Old amateur rivals Liam Davies (121.6lbs) and Shabaz Masoud (121.9lbs) made weight Friday ahead of tomorrow’s 12-round junior featherweight clash inside Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England.

The lightly regarded IBO belt is on the line and Davies, 16-0 (8 KOs), starts as the favourite – thanks largely to his superior professional experience – against the 13-0 (4 KOs) Masoud, who twice beat Liam in the amateur ranks. The winner will position themselves as one of the leading contenders in the world at 122lbs.

There was no customary stare-down after the fighters hit the scales but mock smiles and a handshake that lasted several moments as the rivals flexed their muscles and tightened their grips.

Chief support on the Queensberry Promotions show features Chantelle Cameron, 19-1 (8 KOs), defending her WBC interim junior welterweight strap against Patricia Berghult, 17-1 (4 KOs). Cameron weighed 139.7lbs to Berghult’s 138.2lbs. The only loss of the Swede’s career came when she last ventured onto UK soil in 2022 and was widely outpointed by Natasha Jonas.

The other weights for the Birmingham bill are as follows:

Ekow Essuman (146.6lbs) vs. Ben Vaughan (146.6lbs)

Ezra Taylor (176.8lbs) vs. Kristaps Bulmeistars (180.1lbs)

Eithan James (146.6lbs) vs. Jermaine Osbourne-Edwards (146.4lbs)

Lewis Williams (225.6lbs) vs. Lamah Griggs (247.9lbs)

Eoghan Lavin (161.8lbs) vs. Remi Scholer (159.7lbs)

Mykyle Ahmed (118.8lbs) vs. Yin Calcedo (117.5lbs)
