Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City - WBA featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (20-0, 16KOs) demolished former champion Jorge Solis (40-3, 29KOs) in four rounds. It was the first knockout loss for Solis since a TKO defeat to Manny Pacquiao. Gamboa lost his IBF title on the scale after failing to make weight for the IBF's secondary weigh-in which requires the boxer to remain within ten pounds of the division limit.

After a good first round by Solis, Gamboa came back in the second round with a combination of punches to send Solis down in the first minute. Gamboa went right after Solis and started pounded him against the ropes. Solis shook off the storm, but not much later an inside right hand sent Solis down for the second time. Gamboa was ripping Solis with punches until the bell. Solis stood his ground in the third round and took the fight to Gamboa. The Cuban star was landing some hard potshots. In the final five seconds, Gamboa landed a big combination that sent Solis down on his back.

Gamboa came out with heavy punches in the fourth to rock Solis again. As Solis was following Gamboar around, a straight combination sent Solis down for the fourth time in the fight. Before Solis could even collect himself, Gamboa was right back on him and battered him down for the fifth knockdown of the fight and the referee waved it off.
