A massive fight card is planned for Saturday afternoon and evening at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California. In the SHOWTIME-televised main event (10:30PM ET/PT), Amir Khan takes on Carlos Molina in a 12-round super lightweight bout.
Khan came in at 139.75 lb, the same as Molina (17-0-1, 7KO), who takes a huge step up in class.
Khan is looking for his first win in more than 17 months, having lost two straight. The former 140 lb. titlist suffered a devastating 4th round knockout loss to Danny Garcia this past summer, having since parted ways with trainer Freddie Roach in favor of the red-hot cornerman Virgil Hunter.
The televised co-feature covers the continued comeback of Alfredo Angulo, who enjoyed an emotional return to the ring last month. The Mexican slugger weighed in just over the super welterweight limit of 154,5 lb for his chief support bout against Jorge Silva, who weighed in at 156 lb.
The two were slated to face off earlier this year, only for Price to be forced to pull out due to injury.
Kicking off the day's festivities is a live broadcast on CBS (Saturday, 4:30PM ET/1:30PM PT), marking the sport's return to the network in more than 15 years. Headlining the free TV show is all-action bantamweight titlist Leo Santa Cruz, who faces Alberto Guevara in a scheduled 12-round title defense. Both fighters weighed 117.5 lb, just below the bantamweight limit.
