Nonito Donaire and Zsolt Bedak both made weight ahead of their super bantamweight title clash, which takes place Saturday evening at Cebu City Sports Complex in Cebu, Philippines.

Both were inside the 122-pound divisional limit. Donaire (36-3, 23KOs) tipped the scales at a healthy 121.75-pounds for his Philippines homecoming, while Hungary's Bedak weighed 121.5-pounds for his second career title challenge.

With the event taking place in an outdoor venue and temperatures expected to be in the 90s, Donaire - who was born in Philippines but raised in San Leandro, Calif. - is already taking necessary precautions to avoid dehydration and excessive weight loss upon his ring arrival and as the fight progresses.

"I plan to consume plenty of water and sea salt," noted the Fil-Am star. "We will both be sweating bullets in there."

The bout will mark the first defense of the super bantamweight title Donaire claimed in a unanimous decision over Cesar Juarez in their 12-round thriller last December in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The born-again boxer enters riding a three-fight win streak following a knockout loss to Nicholas Walters in Oct. '14, which ended his brief foray in the featherweight division.

The entirety of his current win streak has taken place at super bantamweight, where he previously reigned as World champion. Four wins in a 2012 campaign resulted in his being named Fighter of the Year, though it has been an uneven ride in the aftermath, including losses to Guillermo Rigondeaux and Walters.

Still, Donaire rates as one of the most accomplished boxers to come out of the Philippines. The 33-year old has claimed titles in four weight classes - flyweight, bantamweight, super bantamweight and featherweight - and was regarded as the man at all but featherweight,

There exists the possibility of a return up the scales, but for now is comfortable at super bantamweight. Saturday's appearance marks his first in his birth country since his comeback last March, a 2nd round knockout of William Prado in his first bout back following his aforementioned featherweight title fight knockout loss.

Bedak (25-1, 8KOs) enters his second career title fight, The highlight of his boxing life remains his representing Hungary in the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he scored an opening-round win over Abner Mares. His pro career hasn't been quite as kind, suffering a knockout loss to Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in their super bantamweight title fight in May '10.

The loss to Vazquez Jr. - whom Donaire decisioned in a vacant title fight in Feb. '12 - marks Bedak's lone previous road trip, with the balance of his career having taken place in Hungary.

Saturday's bout will air live locally on ABS-CBN and on InDemand Pay-Per-View in the United States.
