Oakland, CA – This Saturday,  former amateur star and undefeated Antonio “Carita” Nieves (12-0, 6 KO’s) of Cleveland, OH will be taking a big step in his career as he takes on fellow undefeated prospect Stephon Young (13-0-1, 5 KO’s) of St. Louis, MO on the Andre Ward-Paul Smith undercard promoted by Roc Nation Sports in Oakland, CA.

In a battle of unbeaten fighters, the 8 round super bantamweight bout will be Nieves’ 2nd bout in two weeks.

Just a week and half ago, Nieves scored a first round knockout over Hungarian champion, Gabor Molnar and just got the call for the bout against Young and jumped at the chance to fight on television.

“When my manager David McWater called me and asked if I wanted the fight, I didn’t hesitate,” said Nieves.  “This is a fight that I had discussed with my trainers, and we always said if it was ever offered on neutral grounds, we would take it.  A win can change my life and put me on the map as one of the best up and coming fighters in the country!”

“We would like to thank Roc Nation for putting Antonio on this card and giving him the opportunity to display his skills on national television.   He knows a win can open a lot of doors for him and plans to take advantage of this opportunity,” said McWater.

Nieves is very familiar with Young as they both competed in the 2012 US Olympic Trials.

“I have known him for a long time because we came up in the amateurs together, ” said Nieves.  I have followed his career as a pro and I feel more ready for this because I have fought the better competition in my professional career.  I have defeated 3 undefeated fighters so far and I’m the type of fighter that performs better when I’m up against a challenge. “

“Come June 20, you will see the best Antonio Nieves thus far as a professional.”

The Nieves-Young bout will be shown live this Saturday on BET at 10 P.M ET/7 P.M. PT.
