Junior welterweight Victor Cayo (27-3, 19KOs) makes no excuses for Saturday's shocking ninth round TKO loss to 40-year-old veteran Nate Campbell (35-9-1, 26KOs). It was Cayo's second knockout loss in his last three fights. Before a huge crowd of fans at the Palacio de Deportes in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Cayo was nearly stopped in the fifth round and he was punished until the referee stopped the fight in the ninth.

If Cayo's handlers advise him to retire, the 27-year-old will walk away, or else he will return in the next couple of months as a welterweight.

"I never thought that I would lose in front of my people, I have no excuses whatsoever, my team worked well and I appreciate the effort put in by every single one of my assistants, coaches, my handlers ... I felt like I was cramped and I could not punch in the way that I wanted to. I reiterate, I have no excuses and whether or not I stay in the ring will depend on the advice I receive from my managers. If they ask me [to retire], then I'll retire. For now I will rest for a few months and if I return to the ring it will be as a welterweight," Cayo said.
