Jessie Vargas (26-1, 9KOs) is still upset with last month's twelve round decision loss to Timothy Bradley last month in Los Angeles. They fought for the vacant WBO welterweight title.

Vargas is angered over the closing moments of the twelfth and final round, when Bradley was in serious trouble. As Vargas was trying to finish the fight, referee Pat Russell became confused after believing he had heard the final bell and jumped in to stop the fight. It quickly became clear that Russell had stopped the fight eight seconds too early.

"I will send a letter to Mr. Francisco Valcarcel, president of the World Boxing Organization, requesting a direct rematch and make it so the outcome of the fight is changed to a "no contest" because with this defeat I lost my undefeated record. I just want justice, so I will send a request to the California State Athletic Commission," said Jessie. "I intend to resolve this situation in the best way possible, without hurting  my beloved sport of boxing. I am a fighter and my whole life depends on boxing, and I just ask that justice be done."

"The referee stopped the fight, and I was confident that I would've won by knockout. He warned both fighters, in the dressing room, that he would stop the fight if either one of us was hurt, and his words were 'nobody is going to die I my ring.' The referee stopped the bout thinking the round had ended, but there were eight seconds left in the round - during which case my opponent was already hurt and helpless and the only thing missing was the final blow that I wasn't allowed to connect."

"In boxing it is always an advantage to be undefeated, which is why Floyd Mayweather Jr. is what he is - because the zero sells...because it means you are undefeated."
