Ryan Aims to Become Walsh Family’s Second Champion

Ryan Walsh is gearing up for a return to York Hall where last week he watched on as his brother Liam claimed a terrific win against Paul Appleby and defended his Commonwealth Super-Featherweight title.

Walsh, 25, bids to become the second champion of the three unbeaten boxing brothers from Cromer when he faces Liam Richards for the Vacant English Super-Bantamweight title at the venue on the 21st October, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456)

Having stood in his brother’s corner for what is being hailed by many pundits as domestic 'Fight of the Year', Walsh is itching to pull his gloves on and continue on the path which he hopes will eventually see the Walshes become the first trio of brothers in boxing history to simultaniously hold world titles.

Richards, from Melksham in Wiltshire, could prove to be just as tough and Appleby and give Walsh the sternest test of his unbeaten 12 fight career.

He's already won the British Masters Super-Featherweight title and only has one points loss in his 11 fights to date.

Walsh said, “I can’t wait to get back in the ring for the Richards fight. After watching in Liam’s corner at York Hall I’ve been hungry to pull my gloves on ever since and on the 21st October I get the chance to follow in Liam’s footsteps and win my first title.”

The event, that will be headlined by the British Cruiserweight Championship dust-up between Stourbridge’s Rob Norton and Streatham’s Leon Williams, will be the second promotion of George and Francis Warren under their Queensberry Promotions banner.

George, delighted with Queensberry Promotions’ first outing said “The first show for Queensberry and BoxNation was one of the best shows I’ve been involved in, it had everything, knockdowns, upsets and all out wars; everything a fan can ask for in a boxing show. We hope to continue this trend of showcasing 50:50 entertaining match ups on October 21st . We know Leon comes to fight and his bout with Rob Norton has spilt opinion in the boxing world and if Ryan Walsh can put on half the performance his brother did last Friday we are all in for a real treat.’

Also on the bill The Irish Lightening Dean Byrne gets his London debut and some of Queensberry’s new crop of fighters including Liam Shinkwin and Danny Davis also get the chance to impress.

Conquest to face Owoh at York Hall

On the 18th November, Tony Conquest the exciting cruiserweight prospect from Romford,  will face former IBF Inter-Continental Super Middleweight title challenger Toks Owoh at York Hall. The bout will be the part of an another hard-hitting card from George and Francis Warren’s Queensberry Promotions banner and once again will be live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Platform 456)

Conquest, part of Queensberry’s exciting stable of emerging young talent, has been earmarked for future honours following convincing performances in his first seven professional outings, and will be watching very closely at next Friday’s British Cruiserweight title fight between Stourbridge's Rob Norton and Streatham's Leon Williams. The title fight, also part of a great Queensberry event at York Hall, pits the more active Williams against a man that has held the belt for 5 years in Norton.

Conquest has targeted a British title fight for early next year against the winner as he looks to heat up the domestic division. However he’ll need to get through the immensely tough challenge of Owoh first.  Owoh, who was one of the most talented Super-Middleweights of the domestic division in the nineties and early noughties, has started with a bang since moving up to cruiserweight after 5 years away from the sport.

Conquest, keen to get back in the ring after a comprehensive points win against Hastings Rasani in September, said, “I’m excited about the Owoh fight, it’s a chance to continue what I’ve started in my first seven professional bouts and let everyone know I’m ready for a British title fight.”

The event marks Queensberry Promotions’ third outing and an excited Francis Warren speaking about the Conquest vs. Owoh match-up commented, “ It’s another very interesting 50-50 fight. Tony has shown us that he has all the ingredients to go on and do big things within the cruiserweight division, but he’ll have his hands full with Owoh, who has found a new lease of life at cruiserweight. I’m sure a British title fight  will be in line for the winner against the winner of Norton vs. Williams, which is another tough one to call. With these two fights, and the likely dust-up between the two winners to follow, we are looking at the most active and competitive domestic cruiserweight division we have seen in years!”
