At Centro de Usos Multiples in Hermosillo, Mexico, WBA flyweight champion Hernan "Tyson" Marquez (31-2, 24 KOs) made the first defense of the title he won in April from Luis Concepcion, with a third round knockout of Edrin Dapudong (22-4, 13 KOs). The stronger and more accurate Marquez battered Dapudong with punches to put him down hard enough to force the intervention of the referee.
Super flyweight Daniel Rosas (21-0, 9 KOs) of Mexico struck first blood on the show "Mexico vs. Philippines" by knocking out Filipino boxer Federico Catubay (26-19-3, 13 KOs) in the sixth round of action. Catubay losing five out of his last seven fights. Rosas, making his first defense, retains the WBO's Youth title at super flyweight.
