Wembley Arena, London - In a horrible brawl between two undefeated heavyweights with almost identical records, folk hero Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KOs) defeated his first world-ranked opponent in WBO #14 Brazilian Marcelo Luiz Nascimento (13-1, 11 KOs) with a fifth-round kayo.

Fury was better almost all the way but it was Marcelo Nascimento who landed the first big punch of the fight with a wild right swing onto Fury's temple. Fury responded well and landed a major right hand to put the Brazilian fighter down midst into the first. Nascimento was hurt several more times but survived the round. The British behemoth was better than his opponent in rounds two and three as well. Nascimento, equally large, was fading rapidly and soon got horribly tired but Tyson Fury was unable to get the job done.

Both fighters failed to deliver quality boxing but rather some street-fighting to entertain the local crowd, though the local heavyweight used his jab pretty well.

The fourth stanza was slightly better for the Brazilian but he also lost what was left from his power. In round five, Fury increased his tempo and started connecting with some hard leather to both the body and face of the Latino battler. Late in the round he landed another monstrous right hook to put Marcelo Nascimento to sleep instantly. Afterwards, Fury congratulated John McDermott with his earlier win and called for Derek Chisora to stop hiding from him.

In a bid for a vacant BBBofC British welterweight title between two Commonwealth champions, more aggressive and by far more spectacular Craig Watson (20-3, 8 KOs) got the better of WBC #13 John O'Donnell (24-2, 11 KOs) over twelve grueling rounds. Watson, coming down in weight form light middleweight division, pressed the action against his possum and awkward opponent and landed more telling punches. He also avenged his loss to O'Donnell, which occurred almost two years ago for the Commonwealth welterweight belt. Notable, O'Donnell needed three attempts to tip the scale limit. Scores were: 116-113 (Peter Llewellyn), 117-112 (Howard Foster) and 116-112 (Dave Parris) - for Craig Watson.
