The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee has summoned the purse bid for the super middleweight title fight between "regular" champion Tyron Zeuge and challenger Isaac Ekpo, on August 28th.

They already fought on March 23 and the champion was given the victory by technical decision in the fifth round. However, it was an intense fight with 49-46, 48-47 and 49-47 scorecards.

The Championships Committee, upon request of team Ekpo, analyzed the fight and ordered a rematch giving them 30 days to negotiate. However, Zeuge was granted a special permit to fight Paul Smith with the condition that the winner of that bout should negotiate with the Nigerian Gladiator. All of this is supported by WBA rules.

However, the failure of the parties to reach an agreement forced the Championships Committee summon a purse bid, in the WBA offices in Panamá city, and will be presided by Aurelio Fiengo.

IN OTHER NEWS: Yesica “La Tuti” Bopp retained her World Boxing Association (WBA) Mini Flyweight title last Saturday in Montevideo, Uruguay, where she defeated Colombian Olga Julio by unanimous decision.

Bopp controlled the fight in the 10 rounds. The Argentinean boxer did not allow Julio to develop her attack at any time. “La Tuti” was always accurate with her power punches.

The obvious supremacy of the champion gave her a perfect victory on the three judges’ cards: 100-90. Thus, “La Tuti” retained for the third time, in her second stage as a champion, with her WBA belt at 108 pounds, and left her record at 32 victories, one defeat and 13 knockouts.
