Heavyweight contender Tye "Big Sky" Fields (49-5, 44KOs) has called it a day. The 37-year-old fighter is looking to do other things with himself. After suffering a sixth round TKO loss in his last fight, against "Polish Giant" Mariusz Wach in March, Fields saw no reason to continue any further.

The 6'8 heavyweight has always had a deadly punch but his chin was always his downfall in every defeat. Fields admits that he no longer has the proper desire to continue boxing.

“I got to see the world and I had a lot of fun, but when you stop improving and your heart is no longer in it, you should call it a day,” Fields told QMI Agency. “I pretty much decided to retire after my last fight in March; this just kind of makes it official, I guess. I’m 37 and I’m getting out at a good time for me and my family. I’m just happy to have had some success at something I never even considered getting into when I was a kid."

"And being based in Edmonton for the last few years has really been great. Boxing fans here are very supportive, and I’d like to thank everybody who made me feel so welcome, both in the ring and in the community. I’ll still be going to the fights — but only to watch.”
