Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York - In a heavyweight showdown, Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (20-0, 18 KOs) from Brooklyn stopped Poland’s Mariusz Wach (33-3, 17 KOs) in the ninth round.

The contest was Miller's televised debut on HBO and the fight was also showcased in the UK to Sky Sports subscribers.

Miller was not overly impressive in the contest. Although he was fitter than seen in his previous fight, he still appeared to be a few pounds too heavy and Wach was in the worst shape of his career.

To make matters worse, Wach injured his right hand badly during the fight and he was unable to defend himself or properly fight for several rounds until the doctor stopped the contest in the ninth.

Miller is calling for the big names - like WBC champion Deontay Wilder and IBF, IBO, WBA champion Anthony Joshua.

But, heavyweight contender and former champion Tony Bellew believes Miller is not yet ready for those types of fights.

"Miller's not yet in that position, he hasn't beat anyone. [Mariusz]Wach is a good test, but again the Pole has not beaten anyone of decent note himself, he's more known as a gallant loser who is durable with a great chin," Bellew told Sky Sports.

"Wach is not a stepping stone to a world title fight, just a name. I like his talk but he still has improvements to make. I would definitely like him to face one of the big boys further down the line."

Former champion Carl Froch agrees. He feels Miller should fight someone on the level of a Dillian Whyte - and then evaluate his immediate future based on that performance.

"Miller looks like a lot of fun during fight week, but he's not up at the elite level in the heavyweight division. It is a small pond, with a couple of very big fish at the moment, so it is hard to see how he gets up there - although talking a good game always helps," Froch said.

"Put him in with Dillian Whyte, that would be good. The winner would prove he is the next in line to try and get a shot at the world titles."
