Tommy Martin has had his appeal pushed back by three weeks.

The former English super-lightweight champion, who has been out of action since January after suffering a maiden career defeat at the hands of John-Wayne Hibbert, was in front of the British Boxing Board of Control on Thursday.

Martin (13-1, 5 KOs) was appealing against having his licence withdrawn over an undisclosed matter.

The 22-year-old took to Facebook to thank fans for their support after yesterday’s expected date with destiny, only to also reveal that he will have to play the waiting game a little longer.

“[I] would like to say a MASSIVE [sic] thank you for all the support this far,” he wrote, “but unfortunately the Board have still got my licence and have delayed everything until they have another meeting in around three weeks’ time.

“As you could imagine I’m gutted but I’m sticking to the game plan of keeping my head down [and] training like mad until any further news.”

Martin, who is managed by MGM Marbella and promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sport, went on to say that he would be leaving the social network temporarily, “until I have any other information I can give you.”

Further information is set to be revealed in due course.
