Tijuana, BC. - By boxing in a fast but aggressive manner, while using a hard to break defense, Tomas Rojas continued his successful campaign toward a new opportunity for a world championship, as he won a lopsided unanimous decision over Julio "Sombra" Zarate in the main event of a Zanfer promoted show at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana. Rojas (38-13-1, 25 KOs) would not fall for the cunning tricks of Zarate (28-6-2, 17 KOs) and he always stayed on guard for Zarate's counters. The scores were 97-93 twice and 99-92.

In the co-feature, former world champion Raul "Rayito" Garcia scored a TKO win at 1:49 of the third round over Filipino Michael Landeros. Garcia (32-2-1, 20 KOs) was methodical, calculating and accurate. He studied his rival, measured him and knew how and when to attack. Landero (15-6-4, 5 KOs) only felt comfortable in the first round. Following that round, Garcia started punishing Landero. In the third, Garcia was landing nearly everything before referee Juan Jose Ramirez intervened to stop the fight.
