Kendall Holt thinks Tim Coleman’s resume hasn’t properly prepared him for what he’ll face in their fight Friday night.

Coleman offered a much more personal assessment of Holt before their nationally televised, 10-round welterweight bout.

“Kendall’s a good fighter,” Coleman said. “I think Kendall is dangerous with a left hook, but he’s lacking in heart. I’m just going to go in there and out-box him. I feel like I’m a better all-around fighter than Kendall is.”

Holt (27-5, 15 KOs), a Paterson native and Woodland Park resident, and Baltimore’s Coleman (19-2-1, 5 KOs) are both coming off losses entering their ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights” main event at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa.

The 30-year-old Holt lost a 12-round split decision to undefeated Philadelphia contender Danny Garcia (22-0, 14 KOs) on Oct. 15 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. That defeat cost Holt shot at Mexican icon Erik Morales, who holds the WBC’s 140-pound title, because his fight against Garcia was a WBC elimination match.

That marked the second time that Holt lost a fight that would’ve guaranteed the former WBO junior welterweight champion a title shot since unbeaten Timothy Bradley beat him in their 140-pound championship unification fight nearly three years ago in Montreal.

The 27-year-old Coleman couldn’t withstand the brutal body attack of undefeated Detroit contender Vernon Paris (26-0, 15 KOs, 3 NC) in his last bout, Aug. 5 in Santa Ynez, Calif. Paris floored Coleman twice in the sixth round and once in the seventh before their scheduled 10-round fight for the USBA junior welterweight crown was stopped.
