Terry Flanagan will still face Mzonke Fana next month.

The World Boxing Organisation lightweight champion had been set to defend his crown against the 42-year-old South African, who last fought in March and scored a seven-round stoppage, on July 9, live on BoxNation.

Flanagan’s bid to move to 31-0 was scheduled to take place at the Manchester Arena, as part of the undercard to the world heavyweight title rematch between Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko.

But the fight was jeopardised after Fury withdrew from the fight, forcing the whole card to be cancelled, last week after picking up an ankle injury.

However, Flanagan’s clash with Fana (38-9, 16 KOs) will now take place just seven days later after being rescheduled for July 16 at the Ice Arena in Cardiff, Wales –– and will still be aired on the exclusive broadcaster for Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions.

“It was a ball ache when we got the phone call [to tell us the fight was off],” the Mancunian told Boxing Scene.

“I’d booked a holiday and everything for the Monday [after July 9], but these things happen and it is what it is, I'll just book another one after this.

“Steve Wood [Flanagan’s manager] had been working on getting me on this bill and I’ve just had confirmation that I’m on it.”

The bill that the fight has been added to already features several title fights, including the Super WBA super-bantamweight title fight between Cuban superstar Guillermo Rigondeaux and Liverpudlian Jazza Dickens.

“It’s pointless worrying about anything going forward,” Flanagan continued, “because I’ve just got to get this fight out of the way.

“But once this one’s done with, I’ll be looking for unification fights and [my promoter] Frank [Warren] is working hard to get me one for the back end of this year.”

Liam Williams and Gary Corcoran will square-off in the co-feature on the card as the undefeated Clydach Vale super-welterweight defends his British and Commonwealth prizes against the WBO Inter-Continental titlist.

Meanwhile, Bradley Skeete, the British and Commonwealth welterweight champion, will feature in a defence of his WBO European crown and Tommy Langford is set to defend the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight belt.

Elsewhere on the bill, Southampton’s red-hot Joe Pigford looks to extend his unbeaten run to 11 fights, Irish trio Gary Sweeney, Jamie Conlan and Tyrone McKenna will feature along with British flyweight champion Andrew Selby, while there is action for Welshmen Dale Evans, Craig Evans, Gary Buckland, Rhys Saunders, Zack Davies, Alex Hughes and Jay Harris, who all look to impress in front of their home crowd, and Mason Jones makes his professional debut.
