Paraguayan puncher Isidro Prieto is the heavy underdog for his fight with Artur Beterbiev, live on BoxNation, but his camp is confident he can earn a victory.

Speaking at an open training session at the weekend, Prieto’s manager Sergio Rodriguez discussed the training camp for Friday night’s Light-Heavyweight contest in Canada.

“Beterbiev has a different style of [Eleider] Alvarez and he’s never faced a hitter like Prieto. We believe we have a good chance of winning,” said Rodriguez.

“We have a plan and have trained for four months, the last two in the United States. We added an experienced coach to our group and are taking this opportunity seriously.”

Beterbiev is a heavy hitter, knocking out all 10 of his opponents since turning professional, and will be targeting a World Title shot in 2017.

Prieto’s manager is also looking at some big bouts if his fighter beats the Russian. “All boxers want championship fights. We will be ready for all the opportunities, in the event of a victory.”

Daniel Soto, Prieto’s trainer, added: “I had my doubts when I started working with Prieto. But he is hungry. He is very hungry.

“He has had bad times, and this fight is what he has been waiting for all his life. He is a warrior, he is not afraid to trade and go to war,” he said.
