Sampson Lewkowicz , advisor to the middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs), is hoping that a deal gets finalized for a June 7th title defense against Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The two sides are at odds over several items. According to reports in Argentina, several of the items being negotiated out includes the actual name order of the fight - Martinez-Cotto or Cotto-Martinez. Despite moving up in weight to challenge the champion, Cotto believes he should walk out second and Martinez should get second-billing.

If the fight does not get finalized, Lewkowicz will close a deal for Martinez to defend his title in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

"If this fight happens, it will be something extraordinary. And I really hope this fight does not end up being blacklisted by the egos of representatives or because those [representatives] have their own agenda. In this situation, it is Sergio who has everything to lose. If he loses to Cotto, then he will retire - but if Cotto loses then he can continue his career and fight Canelo. But as I said before, the ship has left and is now in the middle of a storm. Now we need to see which port the ship will stop at: New York or Buenos Aires," Lewkowicz to Carlos Narvaez.
