New York, NY - A return trip to cruiserweight is where Steve Cunningham (28-7-1, 13KOs) will be making when he takes on Krzysztof Glowacki (25-0, 16KOs) on April 16th. Glowacki won the WBO World Cruiserweight title last year in what was a 'fight of the year contender' against Marco Huck. With Cunningham’s style and vulnerable chin, one can expect a great fight. Cunningham feels the same.

“Glowacki’s a special fighter with good amateur background,” Cunningham told BoxingScene.com. “We don’t take none of that lightly. We’ll go in and prepare the way we know how. On fight night, we’ll show up and get the job done in a great fight.”

Although the card was announced, Cunningham was asked if he knew that Glowacki was on Polish television saying that he didn't sign a contract and what he would do if the fight fell apart.

“My wife handles all that,” Cunningham said in regards to the fight contract. “I train and fight. I can trust my wife to sign this and that. All I know the fights a go we’ve been in camp. Right now my mind is on the WBO champion in becoming that. Things like that happens in boxing. We go back and we’ll deal with it if that happens, if he pulls out.”

Cunningham feels that he tested the heavyweight waters but in reality his body was meant for fighting at cruiserweight.

“I was a cruiserweight fighting heavyweights,” Cunningham said. “I fought Antonio Tarver at 203, I fought Czar Glazkov at 204 205. My heaviest weight was for Tyson Fury and I was drinking milk just to get on the scales. I was 210.”

“I was leaving the gym at 199 for the Tarver and Glazkov fights. I like to sweat, I like to run I like to swim.  I’m just a workaholic and I can’t hold weight like that but I do have heart and I do get in there with guys 70 pounds heavier than me because a fight is a fight we get in there and exchange fists.”
