On Tuesday evening welterweight contender Jesus Soto Karass joined us on BoxingScene Radio to talk to us about his upset victory over Andre Berto. Prior to the fight, Soto Karass vowed that he would defeat the Haitian-American. He told us he was glad he kept his promise.

"I said I was going to go in there and f*** him up. I said it on your show and thank God I did it. I am happy that I was able to keep my word," said Soto Karass who insisted he doesn't hold any hard feelings towards Berto.  "We are all humans and at the end I respect him and I know he respects me."

The Sinaloa, Mexico native said that he felt he was controlling the pace of the fight but he didn't want to be overconfident in the ring. He also admitted that he felt a sense of urgency after being knocked down in the 11th round.

"I was confident in the work we did but I never wanted to feel too confident. My corner thought I had it and at the end they told me to box and I said no. Especially with the knock down in the 11th, I said I was going to f*** him up and that's what I did," Soto Karass admitted.

Eyebrows were raised when it was announced that one judge had the fight a draw and another had Berto ahead going into the 12th round. Soto Karass said that he wasn't really surprised by the scores.

But admitted that he would be a lot more upset if the fight went to the cards.

"Honestly I wasn't surprised by the scores when I heard them.  I was happy I was able to knock him out. If I hadn't knocked him out maybe the decision would have been different. I was thinking these guys are crazy but everyone has a different point of view but I really don't know what they saw," Soto Karass told BoxingScene Radio.

In Soto Karass' previous fight, he won a majority decision over Selcuk Aydin in a fight that most felt he was comfortably ahead. I asked Soto Karass if the judging in his last two fights will influence him to look for knockouts in his future fights.

"I am just going to do my job like I normally do. If it goes to decision I have to hope I get the right call. If the knockout is there I will go for it. I can't worry about what the judges do. I have to concentrate on my job," Soto Karass explained.
