Vijender Singh has a confirmed opponent for his placement on the March 12 bill at the ECHO Arena in Liverpool, England. The former amateur superstar from India will next face Hungary's Alexander Horvath in a scheduled six-round affair.

The bout serves in supporting capacity to Terry Flanagan’s WBO lightweight world title defence against North West rival Derry Mathews. Both fights will air live on BoxNation as the featured attractions of  'A Tale of Two Cities' bill presented by Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions.

Horvath (5-1-1, 1KO), 20, normally campaigns at super middleweight or heavier,  but agreed to come down in weight in taking this fight. His return versus Singh marks his first appearance of 2016, with all seven pro fights to date taking place in his 2015 rookie campaign.

The lone loss of his young career came in a 1st round injury stoppage at the hands of Mickael Diallo back in November.

As for Singh (3-0, 3KOs), the fight placement is strategic in maintaining an active year,

Should the 2008 Olympic bronze medal winner emerge victorious on March 12, he’ll then feature at Harrow Leisure Centre on April 2.  The set will mark his second ring appearance in the space of three weeks, coming on the undercard of Liam Williams’ British and Commonwealth super welterweight title defence against Nav Mansouri.

With injury-free wins on both nights, Singh is being groomed for a homecoming showcase in India in June.
