Lightweight Abdullah Mason continues to impress with wisdom beyond his 20 years, fighting with the composure of a veteran.

Mason secured his fourth win of 2024 on Saturday night, knocking out Mike Ohan Jr. in two rounds at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada.

Mason, 15-0 (13 KOs), has generated significant excitement with his potential, displaying the poise of a seasoned fighter. He’s handling each moment like a man in his mid-30s, and fighting like a titleholder – or what he’s likely to become: a future champion.

“The only way is up,” Mason said afterwards.

Mason hinted at taking a brief break but plans to return later this year, likely in November, though nothing is set in stone. His performance, however, was definitive. Known for his love of film study, Mason revealed that he constantly thinks about how his fights will be perceived – his fight with the 30-year-old Ohan, 19-3 (9 KOs), was no different. Reflecting on his latest bout, Mason said, “We executed the game plan how we wanted to… I think he might have been surprised by how clean the shots were landing.”

Mason also mentioned that he might have one more eight-round fight, after which he’ll move to 10-rounds. These longer fights often land on television co-main events against higher-profile opponents.

“2025 is going to be a big year for us,” Mason said. “We are looking to come back home to Cleveland to make a statement, and hopefully, I’ll be headlining then.”

Next year, Mason hopes to achieve a world title shot before or at the age of 21.

“When you get the work done, the work speaks for itself,” Mason said.
