It was recently announced that "Showtime" Shawn Porter (21-0-1) will return to the ring on September 12th against Julio Diaz (40-8-1). The fight will be a rematch of their split draw that took place this past December in Los Angeles, CA.

Porter is currently in the middle of his training camp and said that he is excited to have a chance to avenge the only blemish on his near spotless record.

"We are working extremely hard. We are excited and we are ready to take this fight head on man," Porter stated.

Diaz last fought in April when he lost an unanimous decision to Amir Khan. Diaz dropped Khan in the 4th round and had the Brit on shaky legs on more than a few occasions. Porter insists that he didn't overlook Diaz in their first fight and said that he definitely won't be looking past him on September 12th. He said that he  has been working on correcting some of the mistakes he made in the first fight.

"I didn't underestimate him. Maybe some other people did, and we certainly aren't underestimating him at this point either. What we are doing is working extremely hard and we are correcting some of the errors that we made. We are looking to be sharp going into this fight, get in and get out clean, and look good doing it," Porter told BoxingScene.com.

I asked Porter to tell us what he will do differently without divulging too much of the game plan. He didn't give too much information but admitted that he was too passive the first time around.

"Like you said we won't go into the game plan too much but I wasn't aggressive enough. I will put it like that. We look to be aggressive and get to the head and the body and make it a decisive win for us either by knockout or anyway we can get it," Porter revealed.

The 25-year-old Porter is fully focused on Diaz and said that he feels that he is on the cusp of fighting for a world title. With Golden Boy promoting many of the top fighters at welterweight, he shouldn't have to wait long.

"We are looking to take care of business with Julio and then fight for a world championship after that. It doesn't matter who and it doesn't matter when. We do look to get back in the ring as soon as we can after this fight. We have a lot of positive feels and a lot of positive energy right now and we just want to carry that into the fight," Porter explained.
