Promoter Gary Shaw is annoyed with the post-fight treatment of Daniel Geale by HBO's Max Kellerman. Last night at New York's Madison Square Garden, Geale (30-3, 16KOs) was stopped in the third round by WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs).

Following the fight, as part of HBO's live broadcast, Kellerman was interviewing Golovkin regarding his victory. Shaw, at the direction of HBO, brought Geale over for his post-fight interview, but indicates that his fighter was ignored and eventually left the ring.

Shaw found it strange that Geale, pushed as Golovkin's biggest test to date, was never questioned following the fight. During the live broadcast, it appeared - or at least it was made to appear - that Geale simply left following his loss.

"[HBO] made me bring Geale over to Max Kellerman's left shoulder. Max kept talking to Golovkin as if Geale didn't exist - until eventually Geale turned around and said 'I'm out of here.' We were standing there for most of the interview, but Max made it the Golovkin show. Why don't you turn to Geale and ask him how good Golovkin is, or what created the knockout, or whatever makes good TV. He never turned to Geale, he left Geale standing there. At least turn to Geale and ask him if Golovkin is the best guy he ever fought. I just didn't understand it," Shaw told BoxingScene.com.

"He stood there waiting. I even spoke to Tammy from HBO and said 'look, he needs to get stitched up [for his cut], he's waiting to be interviewed and Max keeps asking Golovkin more and more questions. Geale is not going to stay.' And that's the true story. It has nothing to do with Geale [simply walking off]. He was more than complimentary to Golovkin at the post-fight press conference."
