What were you doing at 19 years of age? Maybe you were fresh out of high school. Some were attempting to get adjusted to life in college. There’s also a good chance that some were simply hanging out with friends doing their best to figure out what they wanted to do with the rest of their lives. In the case of Abdullah Mason, he spends his time beating up grown men and getting paid for it.

Officially, Mason (11-0, 9 KOs) has only been a professional for just over two years. During those early stages, fighters in Mason’s shoes do their best to drum up some attention and buzz. So far, mission accomplished for the 19-year-old.

“The best prospect in boxing is Abdullah Mason,” said an excited Stevenson on his social media account. “I think Abdullah Mason is gonna take over the sport of boxing.”

Activity was something that plagued many around the sport last year, but Mason is shrugging his shoulders as he made appearance after appearance. In total, Mason made that walk to the ring on five separate occasions.

The opposition hasn't been sharp or up to par but Mason took care of business. Eventually, he’ll leave these nondescript opponents behind and step up to take on the big boys. It won’t happen overnight, but Stevenson is looking forward to seeing how he develops.

If you think the young man is a handful to deal with now, just wait until he gets his man strength, fine-tunes his skills, and becomes the fighter he’s destined to be. Once he does, beating him will be practically impossible.

“I think Abdullah Mason is the best young prospect in boxing,” continued Stevenson. “A lot of people can’t beat him. I think in the future, he’s gonna be hard to deal with for everybody.”
