Sam Sexton has every belief that he can become the British heavyweight champion at the second attempt on May 19th, when the 27 year-old locks horns with world title prospect David Price in Liverpool.

The former Commonwealth title holder claims he has seen weaknesses in the Scousers’ armory that he can exploit and fully intends on leaving the Aintree Equestrian Centre with the Lonsdale belt.

“He's got a style I can see a couple of flaws in. I'm very confident,” Sexton told BBC Norfolk.

"I want that British title so bad and all I'm going to say is I'm going to get it.

"It's a fight I really fancy. He's tall and awkward and he's a big hitter. I definitely don't think he's been tested yet. I've been in with big hitters. My last fight (against Larry Olubamiwo) was supposedly a big hitter.

"Everyone in the heavyweight game can punch. I know David's got a hard punch but has he tested it against somebody who's got a chin?"

Sexton stepped into the breach when Tyson Fury failed to agree terms with Price over a defence of his belts and the challenger is willing to give Fury the opportunity to regain his titles after dispatching of Price in the late spring.

"People can say he was scared or that he did it because of this or that,” stated Sexton.

"I'm sure he's got his reasons. I can't see a Rogan fight being a good fight for him, especially after I've beaten him twice.

"But maybe after I win the British title Fury can fight for it again. Fury's a good fighter but he's got so many flaws that can be exploited and I'm definitely the man to do that,” he added.

The bout will be shown live on Sky Sports on May 19th with the undercard to be announced in the coming weeks. Former British flyweight champion Paul Edwards and the returning heavyweight Matt Skelton are in with a chance of making the bill, with the latter maybe eyeing a shot at the winner.
