Sean Dodd won the bragging rights between Birkenhead and Liverpool with one of his most convincing wins to date.

The lightweight retained his Commonwealth crown via unanimous decision at the ECHO Arena, exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Dodd, in the early rounds, gave up trying to suss the southpaw jab of Stalker and began marauding forward throwing shots.

And that’s what won him the fight: hard work and penetration –– as well as some craft and guile.

Stalker had something of a bad night, with the consensus being that he didn’t listen to the corner, before ultimately dropping a 118-111 scorecard turned in by all three arbiters at ringside.

For what it’s worth, it is felt that that was ‘Masher’s’ most high-profile victory, with Stalker being a former star amateur.

Further details regarding the next move of each fighter will be revealed in due course.

Natasha Jonas impressed massively on her home debut as a professional.

The 33-year-old Joe Gallagher-trained female, who only made her debut back in June, comprehensively beat Bojana Libiszewska at the ECHO Arena.

Jonas, known as ‘Miss GB’, boxed over four two-minute rounds on the undercard of Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing’s ‘Battle On The Mersey’.

And she didn’t put a foot wrong in getting the final round stoppage against her overmatched but experienced foe, who had only been stopped once in 29 previous outings.

It was something of a flawless display from Jonas, who was awarded the win by referee Darren Sarginson after one minute and 17 seconds of the fourth.

After moving to 2-0 with two early, following on from her 92-second demolition of Monika Antonik in Newcastle, next up for Jonas is an outing at York Hall on October 13, as part of the JDNXTGEN card topped by Jason Cunningham’s Commonwealth featherweight title defence against the talented Reece Bellotti.
