Humberto "The Don" Savigne (13-1, 10 KO's), currently ranked at #2 by the World Boxing Council (WBC) at light heavyweight, says WBC champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson has a lot of respect for him and that's why he didn't select him for his next defense.

Stevenson is planning to return in December and Savigne was one of the boxers under consideration for the fight. Recent reports indicate that Dmitry Sukhotsky could land the fight.

"It's not fear [from Stevenson], it is respect. Stevenson plans to fight in December in Canada. Let us wait for the outcome of that fight. I think he is trying everything he can to extend the time to see if an upset [of myself] happens and I get taken out of the rankings. I'll wait patiently for my chance. This year is almost over. I hope in 2015 that I'll have the opportunity for a title shot against Adonis Stevenson,” Savigne said.

"My aggressive style of fight is what boxing fans want to see. They pay to see a good fight. Amateur boxing gave me the base to box in my country, and now in the United States I the made adjustments to be a professional fighter. We are focused in the gym on our aggressiveness”

"We must remember that boxing is a business, and I understand that Stevenson will use extreme caution to keep his title in a secure place. He will have to fight me sometime in 2015 and right now he has no pressure. What I do is train to be ready for my next fight and keep my place as the #2 WBC challenger."

Savigne is training in Deerfield Beach with his coach Maury Ramos, with the goal of getting in excellent physical condition for his next fight in Russia against an opponent yet to be determined.

"Humberto maintains hiss #2 WBC ranking position. Stevenson will fight before the end of 2014 and in 2015 we hope to have the opportunity to sit down with the Adonis team to discuss the terms of the Savigne-Stevenson fight. This will be an exciting fight," said manager Henry Rivalta
