Anaheim, California - Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is only 20, yet he has begun to take the boxing world by storm. It's been quite different for Matthew Hatton, who has always fought in the shadow of his much more famous brother, Ricky. Alvarez and Matthew Hatton will tangle for the vacant WBC super welterweight championship tonight at the Honda Center (on HBO). It will be the first major title shot for both fighters, yet their treks indeed have been vastly different.

The fight between Hatton (41-4-2, 16 KOs) and Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KOs) had some issues at Friday's official weigh-in. Tonight's fight will be contested at a catch-weight of 150 pounds, 4 under the limit, which stinks because when a title is on the line there should never be a catch-weight.

Interestingly, Alvarez could not make the weight twice Friday. He first weighed 151.8 pounds, then came back at 151.4. He will be fined 20 percent of his $350,000 purse, half of which will go to Hatton.

The fight was nearly called off, according to a source involved in this promotion who asked not to be identified. But the Hatton side agreed to let it go on if Alvarez doesn't weigh more than 160 pounds at 3 p.m. today.
