With the potential of the third go-around between Rocky Martinez and Orlando Salido dissipating, Salido is now looking for another fight to kick off his 2016 campaign.

The two fighters were close to a deal for March 12th, but then the WBO ordered Martinez to face mandatory challenger Miguel Berchelt. A purse bid was held on Tuesday, which Berchelt's promoter, Zanfer Promotions, won. Now Martinez's promoter is appealing the purse bid, but there is no telling which direction the sanctioning body will rule.

"Orlando Salido would still love to fight anybody- including Rocky Martinez but unfortunately at the moment he's under a mandatory to fight Miguel Berchelt. So we're back in the hunt, we're back on the market,"said Sean Gibbons of Zanfer Promotions.

Well, how bout an all-Mexican showdown with WBC super lightweight champion, Francisco Vargas (23-0-1, 17KOs)?

"At this point in Orlando's career, in a lot of ways Salido and Vargas is a better style match-up,"said Gibbons, who loves this fight.

"I would buy a ticket and I don't buy a lot of tickets to fights. But I would pay for that fight. Even as his  manager, if they said I had to buy a ticket, I would buy a ticket. It's the type of cant-miss fight, just two guys, head-to-head, it's tremendous. We'd love to do that fight."
