Orlando Salido, who last fought 11 months ago (his memorable battle with Francisco Vargas), faces Aristides Perez in what could be best described as a tune-up bout in Sonora, Mexico.

Should he come out victorious, as expected, a summer rematch with Vasyl Lomachenko could be on the horizon.

"I hope so, that's what I'm hoping for," said Salido, through publicist, Ricardo Jimenez, to BoxingScene.com."There have been talks about it, people want to see it and right now it hasn't been able to get done but I hope that it gets done."

Back in March of 2014, in what was Lomachenko's second pro outing, Salido out-pointed the the southpaw stylist to hand him his first professional defeat.

But there was a lot of controversy. First, Salido failed to make weight (and thus stripped of the WBO featherweight title beforehand) and hit Lomachenko with numerous low blows that went unpenalized.

Since that point in time, Lomachenko (8-1, 6 KOs) has improved and won world titles at both featherweight and junior lightweight, earning plaudits as one of the best boxers in the sport. Loamchenko retained his WBO super featherweight title last month with a one-sided stoppage of Jason Sosa, and last December the two-time Olympic gold medal winner put on a boxing clinic in making undefeated Nicholas Walters quit during their HBO televised main event.

Salido embraces the rematch to finally set the record straight.

"There's been so much talk about the first fight, I think everybody wants to see a second fight. Not only us but I think both of us want to see it. The fans want to see it. I think it's a fight that needs to get made," stated Salido, who has a record of 43-13-4(30 KOs).

This weekends bout will be televised on beIn Sports(Espanol).
