Ciudad, Obregon, Mexico - Former champion Orlando Salido (41-12-2, 28KOs), upon his return to Mexico, reflected on Saturday's victory over two-time Olympic gold medal winner Vasyl Lomacenko (1-1, 1KO) in San Antonio. Lomachenko was attempting to make history by winning a world title (vacant WBO featherweight) in his second professional fight.

Salido said - "of all the world champions and contenders he fought Lomachenko was the "best pure boxer I faced. His work to the body was very good and he hurt me to the body a few times, but at the end of the day my vast experience and will to win was the difference in the fight.

The Mexican veteran expect Lomachenko to one become a world champion. The World Boxing Organization is willing to give Lomachenko another crack at the WBO title - with his likely opponent being the mandatory challenger to the title, Gary Russell Jr.

"He will be a world champion in the near future. He has the ability to beat a lot of fighters with a little more professional experience. He has nothing to be sorry for because he gave it his all to win," Salido stated.

The future for Salido is at 130-pounds, after losing his WBO crown on the scale after failing to make weight last Friday.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't make the 126-pound limit, but after 17 years of fighting at 126-pounds and four world titles at 126 pounds, my body just would not shed the last two pounds. I now look forward to moving up to 130 pounds and capturing a world title at 130 pounds," Salido stated.
