Super bantamweight Roman Morales will face his toughest opponent to date on Friday night when he faces Roberto Castaneda.

The scheduled 10 round bout will take place at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, CA.

The bout will headline a six-bout "Central Coast Championship Boxing" card, presented by Gary Shaw Productions.

Morales (16-0, 9 KOs) of San Ardo, CA is coming off a first round knockout over Lorenzo Trejo on July 20th in Sacramento, CA. The knockout over Trejo was the third victory in a row Morales has won by knockout.

Morales does have two modest victories over unbeaten fighters in recent months. Morales scored a fifth round knockout over Jesus Antonio Hernandez in February and an eight round unanimous decision over Jonathan Arrellano last September.

Castaneda (20-4, 15 KOs) may or may not provide a test for Morales. The fighter from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, has been knocked out in his last three fights in a row and has lost four of his last six bouts.

In those three losses, Castaneda has faced solid opposition in Christopher Martin, Gary Russell, Jr., and most recently, unbeaten Daniel Rosas on August 10th.

In an intriguing matchup of super featherweight, Gabriel Tolmajyan and Edwin Solis square off over eight scheduled rounds.

Tolmajyan (14-3-1, 3 KOs) of Glendale, CA lost a 10 round unanimous decision to unbeaten Jose Pedraza in his last fight on August 9th.

Prior to that bout, the Armenian-born Tolmajyan won a one-sided eight round unanimous decision over Jorge Maysonet, Jr.

Solis (5-2-1, 3 KOs) of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, is unbeaten in his last three fights since a six round unanimous decision loss to Vahe Saruhanyan in April of 2012.

In his last bout on April 5th, Solis won a six round split decision over former unbeaten prospect Raul Lopez.

Featherweight Rufino Serrano (13-5) of nearby Santa Maria will fight Pablo Batres (4-7-1, 1 KO) in a scheduled six round bout.

Russian-born light heavyweight Ilshat Khusnulgatin (10-0, 5 KOs) will fight Arsenio Terrazas (9-5, 8 KOs) in a scheduled six round bout. Khusnulgatin trains in Oxnard, CA.

Two four round bouts will complete the card.

Tickets start at $35 and go up to $75 for ringside. Doors are scheduled to open at 5:15PM local time, with first bell scheduled for 5:30PM.
