Local man Romain Jacob (22-0) retained the EBU super featherweight title last night in Calais (France) against Italian ex-champ Devis Boschiero (34-3-1). It was scored 116-113, 115-113 and 118-113 after what is reported as a very good fight between two world class fighters. Jacob is # 7 WBC, # 3 WBA and # 4 IBF while Boschiero is # 8 WBC, # 5 WBA and # 13 IBF. Jacob won a close split decision over Boschiero in Calais earlier this year to win the title.

The fight was promoted by OPI 2000, Boschiero´s promoter, who won purse bids with a bid for 84,717 Euro and first set the fight for late July or early August in Italy but it was then moved to France due to better financial possibilities.

The winner now has Belgian Ermanno Fegatilli (29-5) as mandatory challenger.
