Undefeated super middleweight Edwin Rodriguez made an appearance on the most recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show.  This will be Rodriguez's third fight under the tutelage of Ronnie Shields.  The fighter of Dominican descent told us that he has had a great training camp and can't wait to step in the ring against Donovan George.

"I have had a great training camp here in Houston Texas with Ronnie Shields. It has been 9 weeks away from my family. I'm getting ready for war against a great prospect," Rodriguez stated.  "This is my third fight with Shields and he is a great teacher. I know I will be ready on March 17th," he continued.

Shields, who also trains junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara and former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron among others, is regarded as one of the premier trainers in boxing today.  Rodriguez is confident that the Houston, Texas based trainer will have the perfect plan to defeat George.

"Ronnie brings defense and the game plan. And not just one game plan. Its a couple of game plans," said Rodriguez.  "Knowing that he's trained hall of famers and has been a fighter himself gives me comfort in knowing that he knows what he's talking about. We are ready to go 10 hard full rounds if we have to," the confident Massachusetts resident explained.

The fight will be televised by HBO and takes place at the Madison Square Garden in New York.  The main event pits Sergio Martinez against Mathew Macklin and a big crowd is expected to be on hand.  Rodriguez knows that a win over George will open a lot of doors for him.

"A win will do a lot for me. For one it brings the possibility of being back on HBO. He's (George) a fan friendly fighter and so am I so I think that the fans will really enjoy it," Rodriguez told The Boxing Lab.
