Meet the new kid on the block! With James DeGale and George Groves meeting one of the biggest British collisions of recent memory, another future UK star of the super middleweight division was probably born on Wednesday night at Olympia Hall in Liverpool, England. It's where local newbie Michael "Rocky" Fielding (6-0, 3 KOs), the least experienced fighter of the Prizefighter tournament, blitzed previously unbeaten Welshman Tobias Webb (6-1-1, no KOs) to become the sensational winner in one of the most entertaining British attractions of the year.

Fielding, who previously stopped Patrick Maxwell (16-4-1) in two rounds and Joe Ainscough (8-2-2) in less than a stanza, started the final fight with his usual grit and his guns blazing. Webb tried to counter well and to exchange punches with the bigger and (surprisingly) better Fielding and soon found himself in an uncomfortable position.

With a partizan Liverpool crowd behind him, Rocky dropped Webb with less than a half of minute remaining with a smashing left hook - right cross combination, which had Tobias down badly. Webb beat the count but was floored seconds later with another crushing right. He once again found some energy to get himself up and even to sit down on the stool in his corner, but looked totally dazed and barely conscious prompting referee Ian John-Lewis to put a halt to the contest during the break between the first and the second round on the advice of Webb's corner, thus crowning Fielding as the triumphant victor of the show.

PRIZEFIGHTER ACTION AND RESULTS, FIGHT BY FIGHT

Tobias Webb (6-0-1) continued his way up to the major prize after a quality win in the second semifinal over rugged & raw but dangerous all-action non-stop punching machine Jahmaine Smyle (4-2-1, 3 KOs). Webb, less powerful but more polished, used some body punches with elusive body movements to frustrate and to punich his foe. Smyle was as thrilling as usual but Webb, using a superior technique, was just too skilled for a bigger/stronger fighter. Smyle was forced to swallow his blood after his lips were cut by the punch. Scores were 30-27 and 29-28 (twice) - all for Webb. BoxingScene had it 30-28 - also for Swansea native.

Rocky Fielding (now 5-0, 2 KOs) is quickly developing into the Prizefighter's biggest sensation since start of this their tournament concept. In the first semifinal of the tournament, it took Fielding just two minutes and twenty-four seconds to get his second stoppage win over Joe Ainscough (8-2-2, 1 KO). The 23-year old Liverpudlian was all over 1999 ABA champion Ainscough fromm the opening bell. He just swarmed through Ainscough with a fusilade of punches and soon put his opponent down but referee Victor Loughlin chose not to issue any counts. It didn't prevent Fielding, however, to land one punch after another until Ainscough was found with two deep cuts over his left and right eyes. On the advice of the ringside physician the, fight was called off, and Rocky advanced to the final.

In the fourth and the most entertaining quarterfinal of the night, aggressive Jahmaine Smyle (4-1-1, 3 KOs) threw everything he had but a kitchen sink into more experienced and presumably craftier event favorite Carl Dilks (14-4, 5 KOs) in a three-round mauling slugfest, which had the crowd on their feet instantly. Smyle, a strong physically-built slugger, went right after Dilks from the starting bell. Smyle didn't land many clean shots but his volume of punches was impressive. He was just throwing one bomb after another, and Dilks was forced to box going backwards. He had his moments too, especially, in the second round landing some big haymakers on tough but almost defenseless Smyle. However, the native of Leicester wasn't there for a denial. He has even incresed his punch output in all-action third round, which was found to be decisive. Scores were 29-28 (twice - John Keane and Ian John-Lewis) - for Smyle, and 28-29 (Victor Loughlin) - for Dilks. With the split decision, Smyle is going right into Tobias Webb in the second semifinal of tourney.

--------------------

Former WBC super middleweight king Robin Reid (40-7-1, 27 KOs) looked every cent of his fourty years in a minor upset loss to unheralded but unbeaten Welshman Tobias Webb (5-0-1) in the third quarterfinal. Reid, as dirty and as flamboyant as usual, looked very rusty in his comeback fight earlier this year, and his bout with much younger Webb showed why. The former champion could throw only one punch at a time and immediately leaned forward to grab and tie his 22-year old opponent on the inside.

However, in the first two rounds the native of Swansea, Wales, responded well with his punishing body punches and competent jab. Reid picked up all his experience to produce some fireworks in the last stanza but it was just barely enough to make one round even (or even victorious). Otherwise, it was all Webb's which was proved by judges' scorecards: 30-28 (John Keane), 30-27 (Victor Loughlin) and 29-28 (Marcus Mcdonald). BoxingScene also saw it 29-28 - for Tobias Webb who advanced to the second semifinal.

--------------------

In the second quarterfinal, Wayne Reed (5-2, 2 KOs) found himself seemingly on a wrong side of a highly disputed three-round decision and was eliminated from the tournament after a split call in favour of local former amateur notable Joe Ainscough (8-2-1, 1 KO). Southpaw Reed of Sheffield, Yorkshire, was fighting mostly on the outside trying to counter aggressive Ainscough on his way in. The Liverpolitan was probably a little bit more consistent in the first couple of rounds but Reed got more and more powerful as the bout progressed. In the last stanza he was able firstly to rock his opponent badly and then to put him down with a blistering right/left hook combo moments before the final bell (though Ainscough was obviously unbalanced and was hit to the shoulder). However, only judge Victor Loughlin saw it 29-27 - for Reed (same with BoxingScene). He was overruled by Marcus McDonald (29-28) and Ian John-Lewis (astonishing 30-28) who scored this bout for Ainscough who got to the semifinal to face Rocky Fielding.

--------------------

In the first quarterfinal, tournament's late sub Rocky Fielding (4-1, 1 KO) popped out of nowhere to shine brightly in his TV debut with the second-round stoppage of crowd-pleasing but way too shot and china-chinned Patrick Maxwell (16-4-1, 11 KOs). Fielding dominated the first round and destroyed his rocky opponent in the second.
