Rocky Fielding (25-1, 14 KOs) claimed the Commonwealth super-middleweight title for a second time.

The British champion also put his Lonsdale belt on the line against David Brophy (19-2-1, 3 KOs) at the ECHO Arena in his home city.

Fielding has already won the rainbow belt in the pro ranks when he blitzed Luke Blackledge four years ago at Manchester Arena.

And it was a similar performance against Brophy at the ECHO Arena, exclusively live on Sky Sports, as he was finished inside three minutes.

The end came after two minutes and 18 seconds and trainer Jamie Moore, standing in for Oliver Harrison for the time being, was ecstatic at the way his charge carried out the game plan.

Fielding’s promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned the possibility post-fight of ‘Rocky From Stocky’ featuring on the undercard of Tony Bellew’s rematch against David Haye, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, on December 17.

Anthony Fowler is keen to get better and better after scoring a stoppage in his home city.

The Liverpudlian, who is at super-welterweight in the paid code, took four rounds of a scheduled six at the ECHO Arena to get rid of durable journeyman Jay Byrne.

Byrne had been scheduled to box on October 21 in Belfast on a Sky Sports-aired card, but Fowler put paid to that with a glittering display and finish.

The Irishman looked intent on lasting the distance, whether a win would come his way or not, but the power of 26-year-old Commonwealth Games gold medallist Fowler was ultimately too much and the referee Mark Lyson called a halt to proceedings after a second knockdown, with an official time of one minute and 56 seconds of the fourth recorded by the timekeeper.

A date for Fowler’s next outing is expected to be announced soon.
