40 year-old Robin Reid will climb back between the ropes once more on June 25th at the Hillsborough Centre in Sheffield on the undercard of Kell Brook’s WBA International title bout with Lovemore N’dou. The Runcorn fighter had always intended to box on, despite his poor showing in the Prizefighter series in Liverpool last March.

Liverpool-born Reid, who held the WBC 168lb title for twelve months in 1996 was defeated in the quarter-final of the eight-man tournament by Swansea’s Tobias Webb after returning to boxing following a four-year absence and will meet fellow-competitor Wayne Reed, who was controversially knocked out out of the tournament, despite knocking down home town fighter Joe Ainscough in the last round to seemingly win the contest.

Also on the bill, unbeaten heavyweight prospect Richard Towers will also fight on the Yorkshire bill as he looks to extend his perfect ten-fight record. The 6ft 8ins “Inferno” will fight on home soil against an as yet un-named opponent.
