HP Pavilion, San Jose, California - Former three division champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1 18KOs), moving up by two weight divisions, won a twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Selcuk Aydin (23-1, 17KOs) to capture the WBC interim-welterweight title. The scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112

They started fast in the first round. Guerrero was looking to get respect early. Guerrero's defense was making Aydin miss, but Guerrero was not countering to make him pay. Aydin was walking Guerrero down but waiting too long to let loose with his shots. In close, Guerrero's shots were more accurate.

Midway through the fight, Guerrero was really letting his hands. Aydin was landing good punches, but not enough of them and Guerrero was answering back with multiple combinations to the head and body. Guerrero was tiring in the championship rounds and Aydin took full advantage with some very hard shots that shook Guerrero up, especially in the tenth round. Guerrero stood his ground for the most part and answered back at every turn with a higher workrate.
