Trainer Freddie Roach was impressed by Zab Judah's recent TKO victor over previously undefeated Vernon Paris, which took place on Mach 24th at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn, New York. Judah (49-7, 29KOs) dominated the fight and stopped Paris (26-1, 15KOs) in the ninth round of action. Judah was coming off a July 2011 fifth round KO loss to Amir Khan, who Roach trains.

According to Roach, Paris was too cocky, he was already looking past Judah and started calling for a match with Khan.

"I thought Zab looked great. He had a undefeated fighter in front of him, but he didn't really fight anyone. Paris was very cocky. At the fighter's meeting, I asked him if he watched any tapes of Judah and he told me 'I don't need to watch any tapes because I'm going to kick his ass anyway' and he said that he wanted to fight Amir Khan next. And I told him 'don't even talk about Amir Khan until you fight Zab.' He overlooked [Judah], he was too cocky and he got what he deserved. That was the best I've seen Zab look in a long time," Roach told BoxingScene.com.
