MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Guillermo Rigondeaux (10-0, 8KOs) retained his WBA super bantamweight title with a fifth round stoppage of Teon Kennedy (17-2-2, 7KOs). After stunning Kennedy with a hard left hand, Rigondeaux landed a series of combinations that forced Kennedy to dip down to a knee for a knockdown call. During the second, Rigondeaux picked his shots and scored two more knockdowns with hard left hands. During the end of the fourth, Rigondeaux scored another knockdown in the final ten seconds with a wicked left counter. In the fifth, a quick combination put Kennedy down for the fifth time in the fight and the referee finally waved it off at 1:11.
