Former WBA bantamweight champion Ricardo Cordoba (39-3-2, 25KOs) captured the WBC's Latino featherweight title with a fifth round stoppage of Eduardo Guarcia (21-8) at Hotel Melia in Colon City, Panama. The second win a row for Cordoba since losing a close twelve round split decision to current champion and Olympic legend Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Also, rising featherweight contender Nicholas Walters (20-0, 16KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Hector Javier Marquez (30-23, 21 KOs) of Mexico. All three judges saw it 100-90.
