Ocotlan, Jalisco, Mexico - In exciting fight, Ricardo "Dinamita" Alvarez scored a fifth round stoppage over dangerous Colombian Humberto "Machine Gun" Martinez to retain the Continental Americas WBC super lightweight championship. Ramon was supported at ringside by his brother, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Both guys threw punches in the first round and continued to trade until Martinez was unable to continue after claiming that he sprained his left wrist in the fourth. Alvarez's record went up to 22 wins, 13 by KO, in exchange for two draws and three losses.

Former world champion Ramon "Principe" Garcia stopped Jose Antonio Jimenez of Venezuela in three rounds. Garcia landed good shots to the head, but Jiminez claimed that he injured his shoulder and would not come out to continue the fight when the bell rang to start the third. With this win Garcia brings his record to 19-4-1, 12 KOs - and Jiménez falls to 10-5, 3 KOs.

Super bantamweight contender Jorge Lara (24-0-1, 17KOs) took out Oscar Ibarra (27-10, 18KOs) in the first round. Ibarra was dropped, battered and overwhelmed by the hard power of Lara.
