Before a crowd of 5,000 fans at  Estadio de Baseball in Los Cabos, Mexico, Promociones del Pueblo staged a card headlined by undefeated super bantamweight prospect Rey Vargas who stopped Filipino Sylvester Lopez in eight rounds after the boxer was unable to continue due to an ankle injury.

Vargas had his first taste of adversity, when he was tagged by a quick shot that sent him down in the second round. Vargas recovered quickly and started wearing him down as the rounds continued. At the start of the eight round, Lopez's corner said their boxer injured his right ankle and could not continue. It wasn't clear when or how the injury was suffered.

Former IBF/WBO minimumweight champion Raul “Rayito” Garcia (34-3-1, 21 KOs) knocked out Arcadio Salazar (11-15-2, 0 KOs) in one round. Garcia attacked him with both hands, dropping Salazar hard to the mat. When Salazar went down in a limp manner, the referee quickly stopped the action.
