At the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu City, Philippines, Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista (30-2, 23 KOs) stopped Alejandro Barrera (21-4, 14 KOs) in the third round of their rematch. The end came one round earlier than their first meeting, which took place in August and won by Bautista. The first fight was waved off in the fourth round due to a serious cut that Barrera sustained on his left eyelid.

The rematch saw Barrera swinging for the fences by taking the fight to Bautista in the first round. The strategy worked early on, but Bautista broke him with a hook to the body that sent him down for the first knockdown in the third round. He made it up but went down again after taking a series of punches and this time he took the full count.
