Junior welterweight contender Regis Prograis is looking to put in a very impressive performance when he faces former world champion Viktor Postol in a final WBC eliminator on Friday, March 9 from Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota.

The winner will receive the vacant interim-WBC junior welterweight title, and the fight will be carried by Showtime as a special edition of ShoBox.

Prograis (20-0, 17 KOs) will come in swinging big. He's knocked out 13 of his last 14 opponents and won't stop at anything to secure a world title shot.

Postol has one defeat on his record, at the hands of Terence Crawford in their junior welterweight unification from July of 2016.

Postol came back to pick up a decision win on Jamshidbek Najmiddinov last September. However, Postol was nearly knocked out in the contest. He was badly hurt and dropped fifth round. He was very fortunate that his knockdown came around the bell to end the round.

Despite all of that, Prograis is not underestimating the veteran.

"I know Viktor Postol wants to reclaim his title, but we have to go through each other first. This is a great fight for boxing because you have two hungry fighters. It's a can't-miss fight," Prograis said.

Prograis is very motivated to become a world champion, but he wants to make a statement to the entire division in the upcoming contest.

"I feel I'm one of the best junior welterweights in the world and this is my chance to display my belief in myself," Prograis said.

"I'm very excited to be fighting Viktor Postol - he's a very experienced fighter that previously held the WBC world title. I want to become a world champion this year."

The winner of the contest, pursuant to an order from the WBC, will collide with the winner of the March 17th showdown between Amir Imam and Jose Ramirez.
