Raquel Miller remained unbeaten late Friday night, stopping last-minute replacement Angie Paola Rocha in the opening round at the Salon Majo Eventos in Escobedo, Mexico.

Miller, who resides in San Francisco, California, improves to 13-0, 6 knockouts.

The clash between Miller and Rocha was moved up to main event status after former world titleholder Mariana ‘La Barbie’ Juarez had to pull out of her fight against Leticia Uribe due to a dog bite on her leg earlier in the week.

The 38-year-old Miller was originally scheduled to fight Valeria Segovia, but Segovia pulled out of the fight. A WBC super middleweight regional title belt was up for grabs, but the title was scrapped after Rocha weighed significantly more than the 168-pound limit.

Miller was on the offensive from the opening bell, battering Rocha with pinpoint accuracy from combinations until the fight was stopped.

In her previous fight on September 9, Miller scored a first round knockout win over Sheila Cunha, who was making her pro debut.

Rocha, who resides in Barranquilla, Colombia, falls to 14-4-3, 7 KOs. The 37-year-old was unbeaten in her previous 13 bouts.

In junior welterweight action, Oswaldo Quintanilla upended previously-unbeaten Luis Gonzalez (10-1, 5 KOs) of nearby Monterrey, winning by split-decision over eight rounds. No scores were announced.

Quintanilla, who resides in Salamanca, Mexico, improves to 9-6, 6 KOs.

In a clash of unbeaten welterweights, Victor de Lira of Aguascalientes, Mexico improved to 5-0–1, 3 KOs by defeating Matthew Rodriguez by unanimous decision.

Rodriguez, who is originally from Saginaw, Michigan and now lives and trains in the Los Angeles area, drops to 6-1-2, 3 KOs.

Welterweight Jacob Macalolooy (5-0, 4 KOs) of San Diego stopped Monterrey’s Gustavo Torres (8-9-1, 3 KOs) in the fourth round.

In featherweight action, Esteban Ibarra of Monterrey improved to 4-0, 2 KOs, defeating Mexico City’s Miguel Popoca (3-7, 2 KOs) by unanimous decision over six rounds.

The ‘Resilience Fight Night’ card was promoted by Jose Miguel Lopez.
