Former light flyweight titlist Ramon Garcia will headline the 2014 season premiere of Televisa’s popular ‘Sabado de Corona’ boxing series, promoter Promociones del Pueblo announced Friday afternoon. Garcia (19-4-1, 12KO) carries a three fight win streak into his upcoming fight, which takes place on January 11 in Veracruz, Mexico.

A promotional billboard offered by his press agent lists the opponent as Mark Duran of the Philippines, in a bout that headlines a card which carries a ‘Mexico vs. Phiilippines’ theme throughout the evening. However, boxing records website Boxrec.com currently lists Duran to appear on a show in the Philippines on the same evening.

The conflict is currently being looked into by all involved promoters of both shows.

The televised co-feature offers another former titlist, as Tomas ‘Gusano’ Rojas faces Vergel Nebram. Rojas replaces bantamweight contender Julio Ceja.

Also appearing on the show, super feathweight contender Nery Saguilan faces Adones Aguelo in a scheduled ten-round bout.

Garcia, whose twin brother Raul Garcia is a former strawweight titlist, continues to rebuild following a disastrous stretch in his career that saw him lose three times in a span of four fights. Garcia won all three of his ring appearances in 2013.
