On Saturday night in Acolod, Philippines, Filipino boxer Donnie Nietes captured the WBO's junior flyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Mexican Ramon "Principe" Garcia. Nietes, a former WBO strawweight champion, fought Garcia in a very tough and very close fight, but two of the judges scored nearly every round for the challenger.

Only BoxingScene.com's Danrex Tapdasan, who the WBO selected as a judge for this fight, scored it 115-113. The other two judges, from America and Puerto Rico, had it 118-110 and 117-111.

"We will make a request to the WBO to review the video of the fight in order to make an evaluation and give us justice. We want a rematch. Principe deserves a direct rematch. Ramon won this fight and these judges robbed it from him," said Leo Camacho, who besides being trainer of Garcia, is a professor of ethics and values in Baja California.

Nietes improved to 29-1-3 and 16 knockouts. Garcia dropped to 16-3-1, 9 KOs.
